First Reported Accident of Kia Carens at 30 kmph | No Airbags Deployed
Kia Carens has took the MPV market by storm. The company manage to sell 5000 units in the month of February and is expected to rise in the coming months. Starting at just 8.99 lakh, it is one of the most affordable MPV in the market. Packed with 6 airbags and all disc brakes from the base variant, it is expected to be safest in the segment. However the recent accidental pictures of Carens tells another story.
The video uploaded by youtuber Nikhil Rana, reveals that this accident happened in Mau district of Uttar Pradesh. Apparently, the driver was learning to drive in the fields and bumped into the poles at just 30 kmph. As revealed from the pictures, the impact was from the front. The impact was not that huge and hence couldn’t trigger the airbags however there is a considerable amount of damage.
The front grille, bumper, hood and radiator have been completely destroyed. This also reveals the build quality of sheet metals used in the Carens. Since Carens is build on the same platform as that of Seltos we doubt if it will score more than 3 stars at the Global NCAP crash test. Kia Seltos was tested at Global NCAP and it barely manage to score just 3 stars.
