Drag Race Between AWD XUV700 and 4x4 Fortuner Legender
Both XUV700 and Fortuner have a huge fan following in India. Mahindra’s XUV700 launched last year has waiting period of more than a year for few variants. This explains the demand which it has in the Indian market. Recently, the youtuber Vikas Dayal took his AWD XXUV700 into a drag race with 4×4 Fortuner Legender.
AWD XUV700 vs Fortuner Legender Engine Specs
The AWD XUV700 is powered by 2.2 litre diesel engine producing a power of 185 hp and 450 Nm of torque. The engine is mated to an automatic transmission. On the other hand we’ve 4×4 Fortuner Legender which is equipped with 2.8 litre diesel engine producing a power of 201 hp and 500 Nm of torque. Despite Legender being more powerful, it aslo weighs 2670 kg on the other hand XUV700 weighs only 2040 kg.
AWD XUV700 vs Fortuner Legender Drag Race Outcome
The first and second round of drag race were driven by respective vehicle owner. In both the rounds, Legender managed to take the initial lead and it won comfortably. The legender outperformed XUV700 in all aspects. The XUV700 failed to gain any momentum and performed very poor. In the third round, drivers were swapped but results were still the same. Legender beat XUV700 comfortably.
Why AWD XUV700 lose to Fortuner Legender in Drag Race?
So why exactly AWD XUV700 failed terribly in front of Fortuner Legender? The answer lies in the AWD system and how it works. The XUV700 electrical system are designed to send 40 percent power to rear wheels and 60 percent to front wheels. This fails to give enough power to rear wheels as compared to Legender. As seen in the video, XUV700 gains momentum once it crosses 15 kmph speed and that doesn’t help either. It would be interesting to see how XUV700 petrol performs in drag race with Fortuner Legender. The petrol variant has more raw power of 200 hp and its only channelled to front wheels.
