The driving expert demonstrates the very narrow road U-turn skills
Is there a certain amount of road width you need to make a U-turn? The roads in the mountainous regions can be narrow and sometimes only one vehicle can move at a time. It can be dangerous when two cars meet on such a narrow road. It is very hard to give passage to the other car. We’ve often seen this in lot of videos of such instances specially from Ladakh and its nearby regions.
The situation becomes more tricky when mountain slides and road gets blocked. You’re only left with one option and that is taking a U-turn. These are the situations where your driving skills are tested to the core. Here is one such video in which a skilled driver demonstrates on how to take a U turn on such narrow roads. At times the video gets scary, specially when one of the wheel crosses the road boundary.
The car shown in the video is a front wheel drive which further increases the risk factor. The skilled driver starts by reversing the car at a certain angle with a very slow speed. He tries to to align the car 90 degrees. This is accomplished by multiple back forth. He continuously make sure that rear wheels don’t hang in the air and don’t loose the surface contact. If they loose surface contact then it would become a very dangerous situation given that this car is front wheel drive only.
The driver uses a very good calibration of throttle and braking combination, he manages to align the car 90 degrees. Then he gradually start steering to right hand side with gentle throttle inputs. The key point here is to make sure all four wheels don’t loose surface contact. At times the rear portion of car seems to be hanging in air however since all the 4 wheels are on surface, the driver manages to steer it and successfully takes a U-turn.
The driver finally manages to take U-turn on such a narrow road. The video has been doing rounds on Internet and has surpassed more than 5M views.
