RTR 160 4V is the entry level naked street bike from the TVS Apache. It gets aggressive styling and is a good blend of technology and performance. The company has updated the bike with new emission norms. The prices of new BS6 bike have gone up by a couple of thousand but, its worth it given that now it comes with safety features such as ABS.
Design
The naked street bike looks bold and like all other TVS Apache bikes, its design is also inspired from the race track. The aerodynamic design and big muscular tank with new graphics look spectacular. The bike gets LED headlamps and taillights however, it continues to get traditional bulb type indicators. The nicely crafted double barrel exhaust looks cool and delivers racier signature exhaust note. The Split Cradle Chassis increase stability by 25% and comes with telescopic front forks and monoshock at the rear which provide stable & comfortable ride.
Apache RTR 160 4V BS6 Specifications
The RTR 160 4V gets a BS6 compliant 159.7 cc 4 stroke engine producing 16.02 PS @ 8250 rpm and torque of 14.12 Nm @ 7250 rpm. The engine gets a fuel injection & oil cooled and comes with 5-speed gearbox. The power has slightly gone down compared to BS4 variant, but now the engine is more refined and reduces carbon footprint.
The bike gets 17 inch alloy wheels with front tyre of size 90/90-17 tubeless and rear tyre size happens to be 110/80-17 for Drum variant and 130/70-17 for Disc variant. In terms of braking, it gets 270 mm petal disc in front and at the rear it gets 130 mm Drum/200 mm petal disc. With BS6 norms, now bike comes with Single Channel ABS as standard across both the variants.. The fuel tank capacity is 12 litres and has a mileage of 50 kmpl.
Features
RTR 160 4V BS6 comes with plenty of new features. In terms of safety, it gets a Single Channel ABS as standard. The Race Tuned Fuel Injection system is better than a traditional carburetor and maintains better emission control. It enhances the power delivery and increases fuel economy. The bike also comes with first in segment Glide Through Technology (GTT) for low speed urban riding. The GTT helps smooth and controlled side. This feature helps to move the vehicle by slowly releasing the clutch with throttle operation. It comes very handy in heavy traffic and works in 3 different gears with max speed as below:
- In first gear, speed is up to 7 kmph.
- In second gear, speed is up to 12 kmph.
- In third gear, speed is up to 17 kmph.
