Renault Duster 2020

Renault brought Duster first time in India at the Auto Expo 2012. To put it in different way, Renault started the trend of Compact SUV in India with Duster. It was a instant hit and Renault received several accolades. Since BS6 emission norms will be active since April 2020, Renault has updated products with new norms. Renault Duster 2020 has also been redesigned with new safety norms and plenty of new features.

Exterior

Looking from the outside one can easily guess why Duster is sold in numbers. The tri-winged chrome grill with LED DRL headlamps with projector setup and fog lights enhances overall look of this SUV. The diamond cut alloy wheels and roof rails makes it more bold and muscular.

Interior

The Duster gets midnight black interiors with 17.64 cm infotainment system which supports both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The adjustable steering gets a soft touch with features such as Cruise Control, volume adjust etc and its provides good feedback. The instrument cluster is analog. The power window seats, Automatic Climate Control and Cooled Glovebox are some of the highlights of Duster. The boot capacity of Duster is 475 litres.

Safety and Engine

With BS6 norms, Duster now comes with Dual Airbags at front and ABS as standard. The eco guide feature tracks the riding quality and accordingly suggest ways to improve efficiency. The Speed alert, seat belt warning, Reverse Parking Camera and Speed sensitive door locking add more convenience and increase practicality of this SUV. The features differ based on the variant.

Renault Duster comes with 1498 cc 1.5L 4 cylinder Petrol Engine which products 106 PS @ 5600 rpm and 142 Nm of torque @ 4000 rpm. It only comes with 6-speed manual transmission with Multi Point Fuel Injection.

There are 3 variants RXE, RXS and RXZ. The price for RXE is 8.49 lakh, for RXS is 9.29 lakh and RXZ is 9.99 lakh.

Review

Renault Duster is a compact SUV and it looks intimidating. It is a good SUV when compared to price and perfect of city driving. However, there are few things which it misses out. Duster only comes with manual transmission and misses out on Automatic. There is only Petrol variant which comes with FWD and misses out on AWD and 4×4. For those who do mild off roading or live in rural areas, it would be good to wait for few more months and see if there is any variant coming with AWD or 4×4.
