KTM 390 Adventure

The much awaited KTM 390 Adventure 2020 was recently launched in India at the India Bike Week. KTM is known for building some of the best off road Adventure bikes, thanks to its Dakar rally experience. The 390 Adventure borrows some of the design elements from its elder sibling 790 Adventure.

KTM 390 Adventure is built on a ultra lightweight trellis frame which is similar to 390 Duke. The WP Apex suspension in the front and rear absorb most of the shocks and provide a good riding experience. In the front you get 43mm upside down fork with 170mm of travel and best in class when it comes to off roading. The rear shock absorber has 177mm of travel and can be fine-tuned to ones need. The dual channel ABS with different modes such as Cornering ABS, Off Roading ABS are some of the features which you don’t get in any other bike in its segment.

Being a Adventure motorcycle, KTM has made sure it provides a good support to its riders. The adjustable tall handle bar provides a comfortable riding position. The seat has been designed in two parts and is narrower and suitable for long rides. The footpegs support both off road and city riding conditions while windshield acts as a good deflector and high speeds. The 5 inch TFT Display provides all the necessary information about the bike on the fly and can be easily operated by the controls on the handle bar. The bright LED headlights provide good illumination in the dark.

Engine

KTM 390 Adventure comes with a state of the art 373cc liquid cooled, single cylinder 4 stroke engine with 6-speed transmission. It has a electronic fuel injection system and produces 43 PS and 37 Nm of torque. This engine is similar to Duke 390 however it has tweaked for off road suitable conditions. The 390 Adventure uses Ride by Wire technology which makes sure you get linear power delivery. The slim exhaust provides good sound.

Good handling and upright seating position makes sure you ride long distances without any problem. The 390 Adventure seat height is 855 mm which might be issue for some however there is option for low seat height as well. The alloy wheels with tubeless tyres are good for touring and some mild off roading. With tank capacity of 14.5 litres it gives you a good range of 400 km with mileage of28.9 KMPL.
