Hyundai Verna was launched in India in 2006. The sedan was very much appreciated and established Hyundai in the sedan segment. It became one of the best sedan for the middle class and is very popular in the Indian market. Coming to 2020, Hyundai has launched new BS6 compliant Verna Facelift.
Verna Facelift Exterior
Hyundai Verna is one of the most popular sedan in terms of design. The new Verna Facelift looks more sportier, sleek and bold than before. The big front grille looks scintillating along with projector headlamps and fog lamps. The big hood with nicely sculpted LED headlights gives it a distinct look. From the side, the body colored ORVMs, chrome strip adds a premium touch and Diamond cut alloy wheels makes it more sporty.
At the rear, it gets an LED tail lights along with Smart Tailgate which is first in the segment. The turbo variant gets a Glossy Black Front grille along with Sporty Bumper design and twin tip exhaust. Overall, the sedan looks refreshing and has a good road presence thanks to its neat and bold design.
Verna Facelift Interior
Sedans are bought for comfort and better ride quality. Verna Facelift is a perfect combination of these qualities. It is loaded with tonnes of features and to keep you engage it gets Bluelink connectivity as well. The black finished Dashboard comes with 20.32 cm touchscreen infotainment system which supports both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The instrument cluster is fully digital and leather wrapped steering wheel comes with Tilt and Telescopic support and mounted controls which add more convenience to the Driver.
For the comfort and convenience, the sedan gets an Automatic Climate Control and rear AC vents. It comes centre armrest both at the front as well as rear and USB & Wireless Charging Pad. The Front Ventilated seats keep you cool in hot summer and Electric Sunroof adds plenty of natural sunlight in the cabin. Given the length of this sedan, the cabin is quite spacious and comfortable for long highway rides. The Driver gets a height adjustable seat which adds more practicality to this car.
From the technology point of view, like other Hyundai cars, Verna Facelift also comes with Connected car features using Bluelink technology. It supports some of the some of the notable features like Remote start/stop, Smart Trunk, Tyre Pressure Monitoring, Fuel Level Information and Remote Door Lock and many others. Certainly, Verna really shines in terms of features, comfort and convenience compared to its competitors.
Verna Facelift Safety Features
Hyundai Verna is one of the safest sedan in the Indian market. The car comes with ABS with EBD, which prevents wheel locking. The Electronic Stability Control (ESC) and Vehicle Stability Management (VSM) maintains the stability in case of understeer or oversteer. The sedan also comes with 6 Airbags, Front and Rear Parking Sensors, Headlamp Cornering Function, ISOFIX Child anchorages and Reverse Parking Camera.
Needless to say, Verna Facelift comes with standard features like High Speed Alert, Auto Door Lock, Keyless Entry, Engine Immobiliser and Central Locking. The sedan scored a 5 star rating at the ASEAN crash test. Few of the safety features differ based on the variant, however, most of them can be found in SX and SX(O) variants.
Verna Facelift Engine Specifications
Hyundai offers Verna Facelift in both Petrol and Diesel options. There is option for Manual as well as Automatic transmission based on the engine which further provides more choices to the customers to choose from. Out of 3 BS6 compliant engines, two of them are powered by Petrol and one is Diesel.
- 1.5L MPi 4 cylinder, 1497 cc, Petrol engine producing a power of 115 PS @ 6300 rpm and a torque of 144 Nm @ 4500 rpm. It is offered only in 6-Speed Manual as well as Automatic Transmission.
- 1.5L U2 CRDi 4 cylinder, 1493 cc Diesel engine producing a power of 115 PS @ 4000 rpm and torque of 250 Nm @ 1500-2750 rpm. This engine is also available in the 6-Speed Manual as well as Automatic Transmission.
- 1.0L Kappa Turbo GDi 998 cc, Petrol engine producing a power of 120 PS @ 6000 rpm and torque of 170 Nm @ 1500-4000 rpm. There is only Automatic Transmission on offer.
The Turbo variant gets a paddle shifters which adds more convenience. Verna Facelift has a fuel capacity of 45 litres and decent mileage of 16-22 kmpl which gives you an average range of 800+ kms on a single fuel tank. All the engines are more refined and compliant to BS6 emission norms.
Verna Facelift Chassis, Suspension & Brakes
For the better ride quality, Verna Facelift is equipped with McPherson Strut with Coil Spring and Coupled Torsion Beam Axle at the rear. The suspension setup is on the softer side which is good for city driving. In terms of Braking, the sedan gets Disc at the front and Drum/Disc at the rear based on the variant. The ABS with EBD keeps the car in control and prevents skidding. The wheel size happens to be R15/R16 and comes with Tubless tyres.
