Tata Altroz
Altroz is first premium hatchback product from Tata and was launched in 2019. The new hatchback has been built on new ALFA platform. The ALFA platform is more scalable, Agile and Flexible enough to incorporate more power trains for Hybrid and Electric cars. Tata Altroz being the first hatchback on this new platform looks bold and stunning with its new design.
Exterior
At the front Tata Altroz comes with with daytime running LED DRL with dual projected auto headlamps and fog lamps in the bumper. At the side you get black colored ORVM with chrome treatment. The C-Pillar Rear Door handles is nicely designed and placed. It makes car look more sportier. The Rear Door opens with 90 degree angle which is unique in its segment. The 3D designed LED tail lamps with integrated spoiler makes it look premium. Altroz comes with 16 inch dual tone alloy wheels.
Interior
Starting with dashboard you get 7 inch infotainment system with Voice command feature and also supports Android AutoPlay and Apple CarPlay. The power window controls, semi digital instrument cluster add more premium to this hot hatchback. The door pockets are large enough to accomodate 1 litre bottle. Automatic Rain sensing wipers and Cruise Control provide more convenience to the driver.
The rear seats are very comfortable and can accomodate three passengers with ease. Rear AC vents and automatic climate control provide comfort to the passengers.
Safety and Engine
Tata has been setting new benchmarks with safety standards in India. Altroz is no exception as it gets 5 star Global NCAP rating. Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) with Electronic Brake Force Distribution. (EBD) and Corner Stability Control (CSC) makes sure you never lose control of car. Dual front Airbags and Voice Alert System adds more safety to the hatchback. This hatchback also comes with Reverse Parking Camera and Parking Assist.
Altroz comes with 2 engine options.
- 1.2L Revotron 1199 cc BS6 Petrol engine which chunks out 86 PS @ 6000 rpm and 113 Nm torque @ 3300 rpm with 5-speed manual transmission.
- 1.5L Turbocharged Revotorq 1497 cc BS6 Diesel engine which produces 90 PS @ 4000 and 200 Nm torque @ 1250 – 3000 rpm with 5-speed transmission.
The Fuel tank capacity 37 litres and fuel efficiency is 19-25 KMPL of Petrol and Diesel. For Petrol variant price starts at 5,29,000 lakh and goes till 7,74,000 lakh. And for Diesel variant price starts from 6,99,000 lakh to 9,34,000 lakh.
Review
Altroz is a premium hatchback which competes with Maruti Baleno and Hyundai i20. It is a good value for money and with 5 star safety rating it is good to consider. However there are some drawbacks as well. Altroz only comes with 5-speed Manual Transmission and we feel it is under powered. If one wants to buy Altroz then better to wait for few more months. It is rumored that new Altroz might come with better engine generating 110 PS and 6-speed transmission.
