Over the last few years, India has witnessed some sort of electric revolution in the Auto Industry. A lot of new manufacturers and also existing ones are launching electric vehicles in the market. Ather Energy is one of such manufacturer which introduced Ather 450 electric scooter in the Indian market. Being a startup, Ather Energy started from the drawing paper and has designed most of the elements in house which is really respectable.
Design
Ather 450 has been designed from scratch and its minimalistic design looks elegant and striking. The LED headlamps with sleek front indicators and thoughtfully position sleek LED tail lights with the rear indicators can be easily identified among other scooters. The beautifully exposed trellis frame gives it a distinct look. Neatly finished grab rails and integrated mirrors along with sporty designed seat looks quite appealing. Ather has kept the design clean and white. The floor board is quite big and also gets a good amount of under seat storage. The battery placement below the floor board keeps the centre of gravity as low as possible, which further increases the stability of the electric scooter.
Specifications
Ather 450 gets a BLDC Motor which produces 3.3 kW in Continuous and 5.4 kW at Peak with an instant torque of 20.5 Nm. It comes with an Automatic transmission and gets a Belt drive. Both the Motor and Controller are IP66 and IP65 certified. The 2.71 kWh Lithium ion battery takes 4 hrs 30 mins to charge from 0-80%. The Battery is IP67 certified making it Water and Dust Resistant.
The electric scooter offers 3 driving modes:
- Eco Mode – 75 km
- Ride Mode – 65 km
- Sport Mode – 55 km
The electric scooter also comes with Reverse mode, making it easier to take it out from tight parking spots. Being sporty in nature, Ather 450 does 0-40 kmph in just 3.9 sec and has a top speed of 80 kmph. To stop this sporty electric scooter, it gets 200 mm Disc at front and 190 mm Disc at rear. It comes with a 12 inch tubeless tyres and gets a Combined Braking System (CBS) & Regenerative Braking which provides consistent braking across all driving conditions.
Features
Ather 450 is loaded with plenty of features which are of premium quality. It gets Ip65 rated massive 7 inch touchscreen Instrument Cluster (Dashboard). This dashboard can be connected with Mobile using Ather App. It supports functions like On-board navigation and comes with built in GPS. The Ather App allows you to monitor charging status, pushing the navigation to the scooter, ride statistics and much more. The bike also gets Over the Air (OTA) updates which allows it to get interesting and important software updates in the future.
