The world is moving towards EV and so does the Indian market. Many manufacturers are launching electric vehicles and MG is leading from the front. MG recently unveiled its second SUV in the Indian market and that is an EV. MG ZS EV has been launched in India and is expected to receive a good response, thanks to the reputation of SUV Hector and its rich set of premium features. The ZS will also come with connected Car technology and latest safety features.
Exterior
MG ZS EV is a big SUV and gets good design elements which makes it look striking and elegant. At the front the ZS gets a big chrome grille with breathable MG logo in the centre. It comes with Projector headlamp along with LED DRLs and body colored bumpers & ORVMs. From the side ,it gets silver finish on Door cladding strip and silver roof rails on the roof. The ZS comes with 17 inch alloy wheels inspired by traditional Dutch windmill which gives a premium look to this EV. At the rear, it gets tail lights and spoiler.
Interior and Features
The ZS gets leather seats, leather wrapped steering wheel with stitching and leather on door trims & dashboard. There is plenty of leather treatment which makes it a more premium from the inside. It also gets 8.9cm multi info display, Voice command, Cruise Control and Tilt Steering mounted with controls. This EV gets a massive 20.32cm, HD touch screen infotainment system which offers 60+ connected features through i-SMART EV 2.0 App. The infotainment system is also one of the first and largest in the segment. Needless to say it comes with built in support for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
The ZS EV gets Rain Sensor front wiper, PM 2.5 filter for air quality, 6 way power adjustable driver seat, Auto Headlamp, Electronic Gear Shift Nob and Push button start/stop. The massive Panoramic Sunroof covers 90% of the roof which provides plenty of natural light in the cabin. The leather seats provide utmost comfort and comes with 60:40 split, thus increasing the boot space.
The Connected Car i-SMART EV 2.0 App provides vital features such as Battery & range status, Charging information, Range Alert and nearest Charging station which is very important for any Electric Vehicle. It also provides advanced safety features like Remote Central Locking, Remote Vehicle Control, Geo Fencing, Navigation, Smart Drive, Voice Recognition and Security Alert. It also comes with M2M Embedded Sim and also gets Over the air (OTA) update, premium Gaana account and Wifi connectivity.

Safety
MG ZS EV has been built as per European standards and it is one of the safest Electric SUV in the market. It gets 5 star EURO NCAP rating and comes with tonnes of safety features. It comes with 6 Airbags (Dual front, side, curtain), ABS with EBD and Brake Assist, Electronic Stability Control, Electric Parking Brake and Reverse Parking Camera.
MG has left no stone unturned in terms of safety. It also gets some of the notable features like Seat Belt Reminder for front and rear, ISOFIX Child Anchorages, Hill Start/Descent Assist, Tyre Pressure Monitoring System and Rear Disc Brakes. Heated ORVMs is available only in Exclusive variant.

Battery Pack
Being an Electric Vehicle, Battery safety standards are very important for any customer. The MG ZS EV battery comes with good safety features. The 44.5 KWh Lithium ion battery weighs 245kg and is placed below the passenger compartment providing a good centre of gravity. It gets Type 2 Plus CCS charger type and takes 6-8 hrs to charge up to 80% on 7kW charger. However On fast charger of 50kW it only takes 50 minutes to charge up to 80%.
It gets IP67 certified which means it is Water and Dust Proof and gets Insulation & Collision Monitoring, High Voltage Interlock, etc. Since this SUV is built as per European standards, it is also certified to UL 2580. It has passed Eight Critical tests such as Short Circuit, Collision, Smoke, Dust, Fire, Extrusion and Soak testing. This makes ZS one of the safest Electric Vehicle in the Indian market.
Performance and Range
The ZS gets a Three Phase Permanent Magnet Motor producing 142.76 PS @ 3500 rpm and torque of 353 Nm @ 5000 rpm. It comes with an Automatic Transmission and has a range of 340 km. It goes from 0-100 kmph in just 8.5 seconds.
MG offers 3 driving modes, Eco, Sport and Normal.

MG offers ZS EV in two variants. The price for base variant Excite is 20,88,000 lakh and for Exclusive variant is 23,58,000 lakh ex showroom.
